Wildflower Sound Cannon

Site-specific

Nov 21-22, 2015
HDTSHQ Sky Village Swap Meet, Yucca Valley, CA

This project was a two-part workshop that introduced native plants, working with clay, and artillery. On the first day, participants made seed bombs using clay gathered from the dry lake bed with native seeds. After the 'bombs’ have dried, the group gathers at the shooting area of the dry lake bed to launch their creations. The seed bombs will be launched using compressed gasses, using a high-powered air cannon.

Part of the experience involved the unusual ‘slap-back’ echo that occurs when shooting.

Later visits exposed target sites as native wildflower outbreaks.
